Former Willis Re SVP Brings Wide Breadth of Actuarial and Technical Modeling Experience
to Serve Valen Customers
DENVER – August 26, 2014 – Valen Analytics, a provider of proprietary data, analytics and predictive modeling to help insurers manage and drive underwriting profitability, has announced the addition of Bret Shroyer, FCAS, as their new solutions architect. Bret will apply his 20 years of experience as a property and casualty (P&C) actuary and insurance professional to identify practical solutions for client success, bringing tangible benefits to insurers.
“Bret strengthens our team by bringing a deep knowledge of the insurance industry, as well as extensive experience with predictive modeling,” said Dax Craig, CEO of Valen Analytics. “He will use his expertise to design solutions that leverage the collective effort of statistical modelers, actuaries and underwriting managers in order to drive measurable results.”
Prior to joining Valen, Bret served as the senior vice president of reinsurance for Willis Re in Minneapolis. Bret led Willis Re’s predictive modeling practice and performed quantitative analysis and actuarial modeling in support of P&C reinsurance placements. Prior to this, Bret served in a variety of insurance management roles, including actuarial and underwriting director positions at Travelers, and as an actuarial consultant with Deloitte.
“As a market leader, Valen is well positioned to guide insurers in developing comprehensive data strategies,” said Bret. “It has never been more crucial for the industry to consider the tools and solutions available to drive growth, solve business challenges, and maintain a competitive edge – Valen makes it easy for insurers of any size to achieve that.”
Most recently, Valen announced a new Risk Score for workers’ compensation within the InsureRight Platform, a first-to-market solution to analyze loss-free policies, delivering significant loss ratio improvements. More information is available at http://valen.com.
